International Academic Competitions is pleased to announce the 2024 Louisiana Winter History Bee and Bowl, taking place at Glasgow Middle School in Baton Rouge, LA on February 10th, 2024! This tournament will run on our B Set of questions, and like all IAC Varsity and Junior Varsity events, is open to all students, regardless of what state they are from, as long as they have not yet played this set of questions in the 2023-2024 academic year.

To register, please fill out the form below. Preregistration closes on February 2nd at 11:59 pm EST. Teams and individuals can still register with a late fee until February 5th, after which Bowl registrations are no longer guaranteed. Exams: During the lunch break, we will offer the National Qualifying Exams for the US Geography Championships / National Geography Bee (one exam serves to qualify students for the National Championships of both competitions), the US History Bee, the National Political Science Bee, and the National Science Bee. All exams cost $15 each. Students can also qualify for the International Geography Championships (Vienna, Austria – July 13-20, 2024) and the International Environmental Science Olympiad (Puerto Rico – Dec. 27-31, 2024) through the Geography and Science National Qualifying Exams.

Note for middle/elementary students: This event is held concurrently with an Elementary/Middle School Regional Final at the same location. Middle and Elementary students must commit to either this Varsity/JV Regional or the EMS Regional Final for the whole day; they cannot hop between them. For instance, a student cannot take part in the History Bowl or JV division of the History Bee and then take part in the National Science Bee Regional Final. If a student wishes to sign up for the Regional Finals (History/Science/Geography Bees for grades K-8), they should sign up here.

Middle and elementary school teams are welcome to participate at this tournament in the History Bowl. If there are at least three middle/elementary school teams that take part, a separate middle school division of the bowl will be set up. Otherwise, middle/elementary school teams will be entered in the JV division of the Bowl.

If they choose, during the V/JV History Bee rounds, middle school students are welcome to participate in the Junior Varsity Division of the History Bee, and if they qualify, would qualify for the Varsity/JV National Championships, not the Elementary/Middle School National Championships. If a Middle/Elementary student wants to participate in the History Bee portion of the Varsity/JV Regional, only the JV History Bee will be available; those students interested in competing against other middle school students should participate in the EMS Regional Final at the same location instead or at a different event.

Schedule: The schedule as listed below is considered tentative, and therefore may still be subject to slight changes based on turnout until registration closes, at which point it will be confirmed. Readers

Per the rules found at (https://www.iacompetitions.com/costs/) on point F, you must bring a reader for every one or two teams that enter. So, if you are bringing one or two teams, you need one reader, for three or four teams, you need two readers, etc. For every reader you do not bring, IAC will need to hire a reader at the price of $99 each to ensure the tournament runs correctly, therefore your team will be charged $99 per missing reader. Solo teams do not need to bring readers, nor do students who are participating in only the Bee and/or National Qualifying Exams.
